This thesis is presented as a visual love letter to my hometown and an attempt at explaining conceptions that haven’t lent themselves easily to verbalization. It has been years in the making, with the oldest of my photos dating back to 2014. My love of local history and the many ways of reading landscape have been supported and influenced by:
Mom, who never lets me get too lost
Dad, who has taught me that breaking rules is fun, and not always wrong
Pop-Pop, who has shown me the world and taught me to see it differently
Mom-Mom, who keeps me well-equipped on my journeys
Kylie and Jake Calamita, who took me to my first Pipeline
Steph Brecq, who has supported me from Pompton to Cambridge and back again
Jenna Waibel, who understands my thoughts even when I can’t
Maddie Tarlo, who drives me aimlessly on the backroads
Yasmeen Alfaqeeh, HAA predecessor and CS-1 problem set partner
Stella Gilbert, fellow Lover of the Garden State
