The road begins to straighten out again after it crosses the entrenched brook. To your right side will be another cluster of monitoring wells, and to your left will be a number of foundations, along with some open wells dug into the ground. The foundations are littered with building materials; Small tiles, in particular, are scattered over the top of many, decorating the cinderblocks with an entropic mosaic. This area of DuPont’s land, however, contains little in terms of identifiable objects from the plant’s operational history. Here, the names of the AOCs reveal less about the function of the processes that made their remediation necessary. At least 34 AOCs in the vicinity are listed as “Mop Stations,” used to wring gunpowder from the mops that cleaned the manufacturing area.
